That's actually a pretty good idea.  My poqetpad plus is like this, on
boot there is absolutely _nothing_ on screen until you adjust
contrast.  My poqet plus isn't quite as bad, the screen is just barely
readable.  Not sure if older models had the same problem, but one
would think it should have gotten better over time, not worse, so
presumably older models are even more affected.
