RE: [Poqetpc] Sales of Poqet PC?
Hi Bill,
Yup, agreed with you that the HP200LX is more powerful (it has lots of
software build-in plus lots of memories 4MB RAM) its very light and uses 2
AA batteries for a long time, plus its small. But I guess its also a
problem, due to the size, the keyboard is very hard to touch type( more of
thumb typing). (I had it once, but it was stolen, sigh..)
As for the HP320LX, I had it too. True to what you've mention, I got it back
in 1997 when it first came out, the keyboard was bigger, thus slightly
better to touch type. Can multitask(opening a few word doc or few
spreadsheets) and best, it uses AA batteries, but my set gave way due to the
screen, it just becomes lines or totally blank, guess this model also has
the ribbon wire cracking issue.
Guess, I'm looking for a small but yet touch typable unit. I had the psion
5mx too. Very powerful with larger keyboard and uses AA batteries, the
keyboard is a little stiff though.. But again, it failed due to the screen.
Again the ribbon wire issue. Sigh...
Cheers,
C.S.Chan

Hi All,
Although I am a fan of the Poqet, I've been quite surprised about how much I
like using the HP200lx which operates in line with the Poqet, but it is more
powerful (not being limited to 512k RAM.) Another thing I really like about
the HP200lx is that I am not as nervous thinking about how many times I open
the unit. I don't know if both screens are wired the same way; it's just
that I actually see the ribbon wire everytime I open up the Poqet. Both
units get long lasting use from 2 AA batteries, and I like that very much.
Also, please check out the old HP320lx, a WinCE unit, it's quite functional
and is able to use WYSIWYG docs and long filenames; also 2AA batteries.
With a modem, you can surf the internet (very slowly.) These units also can
be won very cheaply. Both HP units use B/W LCD screens and work great in
sunlight. --Bill
