Re: PC 3100 and CompactFlash, it works!

I actaully looked for your e-mial address because I was having similar issues with my Videx Omniwand. My problems turned out to be electrical the videx Omniwand is set up only to use 5 volt cards and most cards these days are 3 volt combined with 5 volt cards. I had to get a schematic from Videx and cut a trace on the VIdex Motherboard so now it works with all 3/5 volt cards simple solution once you know what the issue is but difficult to figure oiut what the issue is.

I just wanted to let you know that today I purchased a 16MB Compact
Flash Memory Card and an adapter to PCMCIA for my pc3100, and it
works!  I now have a B: drive with a whooping 15974400 Byte of free
space --- 15600KB of free space.

Here are the details:

1) I installed the drivers out of sundrv.zip (on the pc3k ftp-site,
   ftp://hawk.psychol.ucl.ac.uk/pub/sharp-pc3k/ I think).  Don't know
   whether this is actually necessary, but it is what I did.
2) I got myself a CompactFlash to PCMCIA adapter.  Mine is a noname
   one, made in Taiwan, no useful markings.  I bought mine at Conrad,
   if you happen to be German.  It is a tight fit, and can only be
   removed with the aid of a pair of pliers, but it does fit.
3) I inserted the CF-card into the adapter.
4) I rebooted.  With the first card (8MB) the computer would report an
   invalid card in drive B while booting.  This did not happen with
   the 16MB card.  However, both cards could be formated and used just
   fine (and the computer would not report an invalid card once I
   formated it).
5) I ran "sdisk b:"
6) I ran "sformat b:"
7) Success!

The CF-card is a SanDisk CompactFlash Memory Card.  The blisters says
something about SDCFB-16-485, and a second number, 80-56-00071-16.  No
further information as to voltage or linear/ata.  My Linux machine
identifies this as:

PS: I also tried SmartMedia, but was told by sdisk and sformat to only
    use sundisk-products.  Nice touch :-)
