I did a quick search and found the below article on upgradeing a
Gateway  Handbook 486.  He mentions  upgrading to an 800 MB flash
drive. You  might find the article of  interest. Also his impressions
on older computers such as the Omnibook 300, Toshiba T1000SE and the
Gateway 286.
