I've got a copy of the manual and a scanner.  Remind me again next week and
I can try some of the text pages.  wait, doesn't Adobe automatically convert
to text?

OTOH, doesn't the pdf manual now serve basic needs?  What if it were simply
chopped into chapter-sized pieces to reduce the size?
