Re: Fw: Sandisk Flash Disk Compatibility - any PC3K work arounds?

Somebody asked here for possibility of combination of PC3k & cell phone.
My Pc3k is dead now but I was using it. I acessed internet (especially
email) using PC3k, Nettamer and some GSM Phones. Now I do the same on
Olivetti Quaderno.
All you need is a mobile, which has _internal hadrware modem_ like Siemens
35, nearly all Sagems etc. Phones like Nokia 5110 need "software
modem" which is a program that needs a pentium class computer. Another
phones need a PCMCIA card which is very expensive and will not work in
PC3k.

One note to Sagem phones: They usually officially don't have a HW modem,
which is officially only in more expensive models. But in fact they all
(except 92x) have it an it is locked by its firmware. Once you have a
conecting cable to RS232 which you also need you can enable this modem:-)

I think Motorola Timeport and more expensive models of Nokia usually have
internal modem as well.

Conecting cable is very cheap and simple thing, MAX 232 + some resistors and
capacitors. I found most expensive connector for mobile.

Howewer in Germany for example it is useless, because you need some special
tarif programme to be able to make a internet calls, it is not possible with
prepaid services (as far I know, Sven can probably tell more about it)
All internet dialup numbers (0193??) are blocked here.
