LCD problem

Have you tried any or all of the following?
        warm boot [ctrl-alt-del]
        reset using the straightened paper clip in reset hole
        take out batteries, leave for 12 or 24 hours, put in new batteries
I seem to remember having similar kinds of problems after using software
that the pc3k display could not handle and found that one of the above
eventually sorted the problem.
I'm not an electronics expert but a broken LCD ribbon track should give you
an area of missing display I would of thought, rather than a scrabbled
sceen.
